Trinitarian God: There is one true God, Creator and Ruler of all things, who exists eternally in three coequal persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Bible: is the inspired and infallible word of God, authoritative for all faith and practice.
Mankind: God created man in His own image, morally free and responsible to choose between good and evil. By the disobedience of the first man Adam, sin and death entered the world. Consequently all men are sinners and cannot save themselves.
Jesus Christ: We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, and that He paid the price for the sins of the world by being offered once and for all as the perfect sacrifice through His death on the cross. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and He will return one day in power and glory.
Salvation: God showed His love for man in sending Jesus, His son, to be the Saviour of the world, and salvation is found in Him alone. For the lost and sinful man, this salvation depends on repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
Holy Spirit: We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit who draws people to salvation and dwells in the heart of one who is saved. He enables them to grow in grace and the knowledge of God, and to live a life of godliness and effective service. This indwelling is often referred to as baptism in the Holy Spirit.
Sanctification: Through God's work in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, we can be freed from sin's control and from selfish desires, and enter into a vibrant relationship with Christ. The Holy Spirit works Christ's character into us and reveals it through us. This process of sanctification is not and cannot be the result of human effort and willpower, but is the result of coming to Jesus in surrender with all our heart, and believing and trusting in Him. He does the work in our heart which we cannot do ourselves, and brings us into a lifelong and growing relationship with Him.
Gifts of the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is manifested in the life of all believers through a variety of spiritual gifts to build up and bring life to the church as well as the individual believer. We should earnestly desire these gifts in our lives remembering that it is God who determines the distribution of them in the church. The gifts should always operate in accordance with biblical truth.
The Church: Those who are saved become part of the 'Body of Christ' - which is the Church - Christ being the Head. The Bible encourages believers to meet together to love, praise and worship God, to encourage and build one another up in faith and love, and to be built together into Him. Jesus said that where two or three are gathered together in His name, He is with them. He is therefore central to Church life.
The Ordinances: Water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are New Testament ordinances of the church. They are outward symbols of inward spiritual realities. As we partake in them in obedience, God works in us to strengthen and confirm our faith and they remind us of God's truth.
Water baptism is the biblical testimony of the professed believer in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In water baptism, pictorially, a person is plunged into death and burial and brought up into resurrection life. This reflects what happens spiritually when a person is baptised into Christ, receives His life, and is empowered to walk in newness of life.
The Lord’s Supper(Communion) should be partaken of by born-again believers, walking in fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Although the bread and the wine are not literally the body and blood of Christ, Jesus said that believers should do this in remembrance of Him. It is an important opportunity for every believer to examine their heart and take steps to restore wrongs that may be spoiling their relationship with Jesus as well as with other believers.
Marriage: This is the union between one man and one woman and was instituted by God in Genesis chapters 1&2. We believe that God’s teaching on marriage and sex is relevant to the world as well as to the church and that marriage is intended for the good of all people – not just Christians. Marriage as shown in the Bible is different from other types of relationship and the Bible clearly teaches that the only context for sexual activity is within the marriage relationship between a man and a woman.
Jesus's Return: The Lord Jesus will return visibly in power and glory at a time known only to God the Father. He will be the Judge of all men - who will be resurrected for that judgement. The righteous (those who trust in Christ) will be eternally saved and the unrighteous will be lost from God forever. God will establish His new heaven and earth and will reign in glory forever.
